Benefits of Piano Express

1. 60-minutes vs 30-minutes

For the same cost as traditional private lessons, the students receive an additional  30-minutes of instruction and independent study. Their total time spent weekly in the

classroom doubles, which then promotes extra learning and understanding of new concepts.

2. Promotes independence and self-study

By encouraging students to move ahead in their books, both at home practicing and during the in-class Discovery portion, students get to learn at their own pace and are not held back by a group setting. If they are learning quicker than their peers they can look ahead to new concepts, and still receive one-on-one instruction and assistance from a teacher if they have questions about a song.

3. 60-minutes vs 30-minutes

This is the biggest benefit! Using the Piano Express software at home shows the student’s progress, and promotes self-teaching. They can play a song and it will analyze their performance, which shows them (and you!) when they pass, and what parts they have difficulty with. They can then repeatedly progress through a song until they complete it, then go onto the next piece and continue from there, instead of waiting a week for their private teacher to watch them play the next song, or introduce the next piece.

4. Learning music through small-group game play is fun and “sticks” better

The class format introduces a social aspect that makes it fun, and can help students recognize and retain new concepts better. The students compete in a friendly manner for recognition by answering questions and finishing songs correctly in front of their peers.

Testimonials

My 5 year old son has been attending Kiddie Keys for about 6 months and has just moved on to private piano lessons with Jason A. Kiddie Keys was amazing, you can hear the fun and laughter from the waiting room. He enjoyed learning the basic piano keys, games and exploring new instruments. He’s had 2 lessons with his new teacher Jason, they have gone great, he is kind and patient. We missed one class and Jason emailed us a video of the lesson so we can practice at home :) I’m very excited to watch my son grow musically at VMA!

Vancouver music academy has been wonderful for both of my kids!! My oldest started in kiddy keys and graduated to private piano lessons with Ms. Ashley and she is doing great! She can read music and her teacher helps her stay motivated to challenge herself and learn new songs. My youngest just started kiddy keys with Ms Claire and he loves it. Every Monday he can’t wait to get back to class. Highly recommend this place. All of the staff is so friendly and helpful. And the recitals are awesome! 10 out of 10

My son's been attending VMA for about 5 years now. He started in Kiddie Keys and now does solo piano lessons as well as voice classes. We love the teachers and the staff, they're very communicative and helpful!
